Bishop Brennan opened the Sacred Heart Church in 1964.
Then the idea to establish a preschool emanated after consultation with Fathers Concannon, Keegan and McClure. The parents with eligible children were consulted and the school became a reality. It opened on the 12th February 1968 with 22 children. School was conducted in a wooden building donated by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart.
Working bees held each weekend for the next six years gave the Church an enlarged, brick veneer building. Father Kelly came to the Parish on August 13, 1976. The first of the three new school buildings was opened on 11th March 1977 and the last one, the Upper Primary was opened in 1985. In recent times a Prep building has been constructed.
Mrs Lincoln was the first Principal. Phil Cash succeeded her in 1979. Ron Rosentreter became the principal in 1986 and remained until 2005. Mrs Loretta McGill was Principal from 2006 to 2010. The current Principal is Mr Chris Rosentreter.
Today the School offers Prep to Year 7 within a caring, supportive, community-oriented environment. Because the school was begun by the community surrounding Sacred Heart Church, there is a strong commitment to the school which dates back several generations.
