Our School Community

Toowoomba has an economy that is built around normal urban living, Industrial and Primary Industry and the Armed Forces at Cabarlah and Oakey. Sacred Heart is part of a system of schools administered by the Toowoomba Catholic Education Office.  Sacred Heart is situated on the northern edge of Toowoomba in the Darling Downs.  The school services the north-western corner of Toowoomba City but also serves small, rural areas such as Cotswold Hills, Gowrie Junction, Wellcamp, Kingsthorpe, Gowrie Mountain, Wyreema and Charlton, which are close to the city's boundary.

Many of our Sacred Heart families have been in the school for many years and provide a stable base community.  There is a strong sense of ownership of the school and a participative approach to future directions both in the educational realms, and spiritual goals.  This ownership extends to future aims of education within the community and is evident in the parents' willingness to upgrade school facilities when possible.

The School environment of Sacred Heart Primary School consists of students from a wide variety of socio-economic, cultural and religious backgrounds.  Over half of the school population is Catholic.  The remaining students belong to a variety of religious denominations particularly the Anglican, Uniting and Lutheran faiths.

Sacred Heart values the cultural diversity within the community.  The school has a number of Indigenous and Sudanese students.

The staff recognise the individuality of students within the school and caters for this in their classrooms.  The teachers emphasize attitudes and values that promote tolerance, dignity and respect for all.
